I'm not sure there was really a need for another remake of The Day of the Jackal? Based on the Frederick Forsyth novel from 1971, there have been two films, I'm aware of and both are pretty decent. The series isn't awful either. Eddie Redmayne is excellent as the Jackal. That said, I can't say I feel quite so enthusiastic about Lashana Lynch's character, Bianca Pullman. She seems a bit lost, for want of a better description.I'm sure some will disagree. Idris Elba would, I feel, have been a perfect choice. Oh well.... The series itself is reasonable. There's the usual espionage assassin thriller elements to keep you watching. For anyone who read the book, such as myself and has seen the films from 73 and 97, (the latter's a loose adaptation) there's nothing really new on offer. By contrast, for newcomers, this may be a welcome and largely pleasant surprise. In summary, a…
